Study Urges Broader Genetic Testing of Prostate Cancer Patients
Certain men with prostate cancer and a family history of cancer are more likely to have a genetic mutation that may  increase the risk of cancer for themselves and their families. Broad testing might help such men make better treatment decisions, suggests a study, “Inherited pathologic mutations and family history in patients with prostate cancer.” For the study — presented Feb. 16 at the 2017 Genitourinary Cancer Symposium in Orlando, Florida — researchers examined the detailed family history of 605 prostate cancer patients at Tulane Cancer Center in New Orleans.
